This week Monkeyscrolls went on a magical journey through the 1971 film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.” This film is a musical about a group of children who have won a tour of the mysterious and world famous chocolate factory. Charlie Bucket being the main character among them.
Who can forget the first time they saw the inside of Wonka’s factory to see a wonderland of candy? The film is full of iconic scenes and colorful sets. Gene Wilder delivers a stellar performance as the eccentric Willy Wonka, and makes this film the classic that it is. Is Willy Wonka crazy? A genius? Or Both? Watching the characters react to Wonka’s shenanigans is hilarious, and the movie never seems to get old.
I chose this movie for the weekly podcast for the simple reason of wanting to take a break from how serious life has been lately and to relax in a fantasyland of chocolate, candy, and madness.
If you’d like to hear the monkeyscrolls crew discuss the film in greater detail please feel free to watch epidsode 10 of our podcast, which can be viewed here:
