The Alchemist is an inspirational fable of adventure, goal chasing, and personal growth. There is an ocean of wisdom packed into this small book about a shepherd boy’s journey across the Saharan desert. The call to adventure is strong.

The following are just a few of my favorite quotes from the book, and it is full of them:

“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”

With the assistance of the alchemist and other acquaintances on this journey, Santiago overcomes danger and becomes wise in the ways of the world. While reading The Alchemist you will absorb the lessons learned through the eyes of the shepherd boy as he fulfills his “Personal Legend,” and wish to apply them to your own life.

I will be rereading this story many times with the hope that I will retain a new piece with each pass through. The positive message of following your dreams deserves to be fresh in your mind which encourages me to suggest this book to anyone looking for recommendations.
